Testing
You cannot assess what you have never tested
Datasheets state holdover performance. Vendors state spoofing resistance. Until your actual equipment, in its actual configuration, is subjected to realistic interference, both are assumptions.
PNT resilience testing answers four questions no document can:
- 1
How do we degrade? Under progressive jamming, at what point do systems fail — and how gracefully?
- 2
Would we know? Does spoofed signal produce alarms, or silently corrupted output?
- 3
How long is holdover, really? Measured, not quoted.
- 4
Does the backup work? Failover to alternative time and position sources, exercised end to end.
How testing is done
Modern PNT testing uses laboratory-grade simulation: controlled recreation of jamming attacks, spoofing attacks and degraded signal environments against the systems under test — conditions that are impractical, and in most cases illegal, to create live over the air. Scenarios are repeatable, calibrated, and mapped to the interference actually being recorded across Europe.
Direct Intelligence delivers this through our test and measurement partner — a global leader in PNT simulation, with specialist timing assurance. Under the terms of our engagement, their identity and detailed technical materials are shared in confidence at briefing stage.
Two engagement scopes
Resilience Test. Controlled interference testing of your GNSS-dependent timing and positioning infrastructure: jamming and spoofing scenarios, holdover validation, failure-mode characterisation, detection verification. Deliverables: technical findings and a board-level risk summary.
Resilience Test + Timing Assurance. Everything above, plus live-estate timing assurance: timestamp traceability audit against UTC, synchronisation accuracy measurement across your estate, a regulatory evidence pack (RTS 25 / MiFID II / DORA), and validation of a GNSS-independent traceable time feed as backup. For organisations whose exposure is time — finance and data infrastructure above all — this scope converts test findings into compliance evidence and a remediation path in one engagement.
Engagements are scoped per organisation and delivered against defined outcomes.
